Though there were height
and slope limitations on
Snowmass Mountain, the
Skylab team turned these
obstacles into an advantage
by securing the edifice
into the land. From its two
main façades, Owl Creek
features commanding views
of the landscape—bringing
the scenic ambience of
Snowmass inside at every
angle. Decisions by the
design team such as a
triangular steel frame for car
decking and a roof slope to
remove snow, resulted in the
project being as functional
as it is dramatic.
