A s plane travel is bullied for the emissions coming from the roaring jet engines that pollute the friendly skies, Boom is developing techniques to make its jets cleaner and greener. e company Prometheus has agreed to provide its carbon-neutral fuel for the XB-1 trial. Prometheus removes carbon dioxide from the air and turns it into jet fuel with the use of clean electricity that comes from renewable sources. is will allow Boom's plane to reduce its carbon footprint by close to 80 percent. Outside carbon emissions, Boom also designed its planes to minimize noise pollution. Overture is designed with the latest noise-reducing technologies to ensure noise impacts will not exceed those of today's aircra. Overture will only fly at su- personic speeds over the ocean so sonic booms will not affect communities along the flight path. Supersonic flight was introduced more than 50 years ago but the technology and materials needed to make it efficient, eco- nomical and safe have only recently been approved by regula- tors, meaning the time is right for Boom Supersonic to take off. We may not be able to travel via personal spacecra just yet, but the next best thing seems to be dawning. V U E N J . C O M 161
