THE HOTEL REVUE BY ROSY ALVAREZ Living in the frigid Northeast means that whenever the opportunity to escape presents itself, you jump on it. Aer the holidays but before spring break is the perfect time for a quick getaway to Florida. On our recent visit, we stayed at the Lennox Hotel, originally opened in 1936 and centrally located in Miami's Historic District, it is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World community. e preserved Art Deco/Mediterranean Revival exterior offers an old-school feel with modern luxury amenities. eir 119 luxurious bedrooms feature designer furnishings, marble-clad bathrooms, and roll-in showers with adjustable shower heads. ough not directly on the coastline, e Lennox hotel is only a two-minute walk from Miami Beach and boasts its own private piece of the shore that comes with lounge chairs, umbrellas and cocktails. Lucky for us, the hotel also offers golf carts for guests to get around with ease. e area around the hotel is generally not too crowded, considering its location in the heart of Miami, but its access to restaurants, historic walking tours, and nightclubs was convenient. In the spirit of being low-key, we dined in the newly revamped hotel restaurant and christened our stay with a fresh mojito along with dinner. Decorated with modern pendant lamps, wooden wall panels and creamy textiles, the dining room offered a clean, understated elegance that felt delightfully chic and unfussy. While most people that travel don't tend to stay in the hotel, the Lennox takes extra care to perfect all of the little details that entice you to stick around.
