concepts with cutting-edge ideas, all while incorporating new-and- improved plant varieties, hardscape materials, and installation techniques into their projects. Founded by Rich Cording, Sr., a licensed landscape architect, Certified Landscape Nursery Professional and Rain Garden Specialist, CLC operates in such a way as to combine the vision of the landscape architect and the craftsmanship of the landscape contractor in order to meet the unique stylistic needs of each of their clients. Guided by its founding principle, "Great Landscapes Begin with Great Design Ideas," CLC has established itself as a leader in the landscaping business, renowned for the outstanding quality of the work done by its design and building teams, and said teams' experience in handling complicated and challenging projects - making it the perfect company to tackle this particular household's logistically tricky situation. "It was just a matter of [the homeowner] finding the right company, which was ours, as this was within our wheelhouse," Rich Cording, Sr., said. With over four decades of experience under his belt, he set out to design a backyard landscape with multiple spaces that would cater to the client's specific needs, while keeping in mind the space's limitations. Crucial to the development of the landscape was his son and business partner, Rick Cording, Jr. A former US Navy officer, Rick Cording, Jr. once served on board the USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) stationed in Tokyo, Japan. Later, he enrolled at Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a Master of Landscape Design. Since then he has taken on a strong leadership role within his father's company and was the main driving force behind the completion of this project. Together, the two Cording men devised the multiple outdoor living spaces, which include an upper deck, a lawn terrace, and a swimming pool patio/pavilion platform. The pool and its surrounding area were designed and implemented by The Pool Boss, a swimming pool contractor based in Wayne and a frequent and favorite collaborator of CLC Landscape Design's. The swimming pool features three waterfalls and two dive rocks surrounding a "C"-shaped V U E N J . C O M 79
