During our trip, we ventured out to Tybee Island and visited The Crab Shack. Voted Best Seafood in Savannah, Best Restaurant on Tybee Island, and Best Outdoor Dining Experience for 2021. Here you can expect nothing less than the freshest, locally sourced, and perfectly prepared seafood in the entire city. While its popular reputation precedes it, the restaurant is pleasantly casual and deserving of those accolades. Only a 30-minute drive from Savannah-proper, this small barrier island is also home to pristine beaches and Tybee Island Lightstation and Museum making it the best location for a relaxing day trip if you're looking to soak in the sun. The famous Mansion on Forsyth Park was the setting for a night of cooking classes hosted by Executive Chef Jason Winn. We signed up for the A Night in Tuscany class and learned how to create a number of traditionally intensive Italian dishes such as Tagliatelle alla Boscaiola, a mushroom and sausage ragu, and Cacciucco, a Tuscan seafood stew, along with dessert, an additional pasta dish, and an appetizer. Our favorite place for an elegant dinner was Husk Savannah. Executive Chef Chris Hathcock's number one rule is to make sure his menu is composed exclusively of ingredients and dishes that are indigenous to the coastal Georgia region. Housed inside a landmark building in Savannah's Historic District, the decor in combination with the food and evening ambiance will make you feel like you're a guest at a Victorian, high society dinner. We also recommend St. Neo's Brasserie, where you will find delicately prepared dishes that can be best described as a hybrid of french brasserie culture and delectable southern eats. After all those amazing meals, make sure to save room for dessert and walk over to Leopold's Ice Cream. Established in 1919, this family-owned business serves some of the best ice cream in the world. Trust us. We managed to squeeze a ton of good eats and activities into our trip but this is not an extensive list by any means. Savannah's city planning is one of the most unique in the entire country, with a number of plazas and small parks along with landmarked Victorian and pre-war homes that make this city a true portal in time. Whether you decide to tour a historic home or not, make sure to hop on a trolley for a ride and just take in the charm and antiquity of one of America's oldest cities. V U E N J .C O M 82
