When it comes to decorating your living space, a rug may seem like a piece of fabric that can be easily overlooked. Rugs, however, are an important staple of the outcome of a home; they can hide imperfections, add vibrancy and warmth to a room, or make a house's design more cohesive. Loloi creates rugs with the intention of making homes look and feel distinguished. They offer rugs that are contemporary, transitional, traditional, and versatile, meaning there are plentiful options to choose from when it comes to a rug's style, shape, color, and material. I f you are reworking your home and feeling overwhelmed by all the furniture and design choices available to you, Loloi has tips to make the process less stressful and more gratifying in the end. Think about the rug's room in context with the rest of the house. Know what size rug you will need for the room, as well as what materials and constructions would best suit the space. The size, shape, and color of your rug can depend on whether the room has heavy foot traffic, or if you have little children or pets. A rug's functionality also depends on the overall design and mood of your house, because a rug can make the décor playful or more reserved, soft or more textural, printed or monochromatic, and beyond. If the endless design opportunities feel overwhelming, another piece of advice is to incorporate colors from the rug into the home's décor (or vice versa), to ensure the room has a clean, cohesive look. Loloi's deliberate design choices stem from their ideal decorating practice, which is making sure every home is "thoughtfully layered." In a thoughtfully layered home, each room should have soul, be intentional, be lived in, and be livable. Loloi prides itself on showcasing the work of artisans from around the world by carrying an extensive collection of one-of-a-kind rugs, pillows and wall art. Their vast collection also includes rugs that are power loomed, hand knotted, hand tufted, hooked or hand loomed, and made either with synthetic or natural fibers to give the rug a standalone look and texture. Much like how you have to carefully consider the size rug you are putting in your room, you have to think about the rug's fibers depending on your lifestyle and your house. According to Loloi, synthetic fibers like polypropylene or polyester are more suitable for busier areas because they are stain- resistant, fade-resistant, and soft. However, in the case of natural fibers, cotton is also soft, as well as easy to clean and maintain. The combination of a rug's style and design can influence the dynamic of a room; a larger sized rug will unify the furniture and make the room look bigger than it is, and the rug's color can contribute to the rest of the room's color scheme. No matter what kind of room you have in your house, a rug can elevate its overall look and contribute to your house's unique style, as long as you follow these simple guidelines. V U E N J .C O M 81
