When we launched VUE, it was intended to be a quarterly magazine. Four times a year we would celebrate a luxury lifestyle and the stories that inspire us. Fast forward to 2022 when we have doubled our production cycle - we now publish 8 magazines each year. VUE NJ will continue to be bi-monthly, and we will publish our "Home & Design" issue twice a year. You hold the very fi rst one in your hand. e concept of good design is challenging to describe in just a few words, which is why we wanted the photos and visual representations to be amazing. Custom design is the central theme of this issue. Each project feature was chosen based on its originality, uniqueness, and its ability to intrigue us, compelling us to dig deeper and capture the full story. Design can be a diffi cult word to defi ne. It's much more than making something look attractive, now more than ever, design is about usability, and setting the tone for how we feel. It's why we feel happy, calm, or excited when we shop in our favorite store. Of course, we all want our products to work, but we also want to feel happy while using them. Home has become more than just where our hearts are. Now "home" has become all the places we used to go, serving as our school, gym, restaurant, theater, cocktail bar and beauty salon. With so many activities happening under one roof every day, design and functionality are more important than ever. Each project in the pages that follow seemed to inspire us more and more, as we peeled back the layers to uncover its unique backstory. is was the most labor-intensive issue we've done in quite some time, but well worth it. We've been working all year with the top designers, realtors, architects and furniture creators to bring to life our favorite stories. ese projects and products are what inspire us both visually and creatively and they provide a meaningful purpose. Our focus in this issue is to take you inside, beyond the wood and the bricks, to understand the story and inspiration behind it. If the home is where the heart is, we were looking for the heartbeat.
