e simulator was just part of what became a full remodel of a large unfinished basement, but with the owner an avid golfer who wanted a place to practice every day, it became the anchor of the space. Mannarino took the golf theme and ran with it. She put in a lounge area with leather club chairs and a bar flanked by cabinetry that is meant to evoke a country club feel, as well as larger cabinets that resemble locker room lockers. e owner's collection of antique golf clubs hangs as an art piece on one of the walls and a highlight of the room is a backsplash that was created through the client's collection of scorecards from his games played around the globe. "I did a collage of them behind plexiglass and that became the backsplash. e entire space is about golf," she says. e flooring in the lounge area is porcelain tile in a blue/gray color that resembles a high gloss wooden floor. She carried the blue/gray color to the Phillip Jeffries wallpaper with the end result being a room that feels like it should be overlooking an expanse of greens. is was not the first project Mannarino worked on with the client. She designed and built a poolhouse and outdoor area for them, and, as she's also an event planner, she had worked with them on several celebrations. "ey knew me and my work which is why they chose me for the basement project. e golf room was the highlight, but we redid the entire basement space that included a large bathroom, a play area for their grandkids, another den, and more efficient storage," Mannarino says. A large cra room with plenty of room for storage and workspace was created and the client also chose to put in a full bathroom and dressing room with a glass shower, bench seating, a vanity tower, and rich cabinetry. Mannarino carried the blue/gray theme to this room as well extending the country club locker room feel. e final result proved to be the ideal space for the owner to practice his swing, challenge friends and family, swap stories from the greens, and ensure a game of golf is never more than a few steps away. For Mannarino, the golf room exemplifies just how flexible and far-reaching her talent extends. VUE ON | DESIGN 64 VUENJ.COM
