spinal cord tumor when she was one year old, aer noticing neck stiffness that was brushed off as an ear infection by her pediatrician. Aer finding the mass on her spinal cord, Izzy underwent surgery that le her with partial paralysis in her legs, leaving her unable to sit up. Needing intensive therapy aer her surgery, Izzy was directed to Children's Specialized Hospital outpatient services for evaluation for occupational and physical therapy. e determination, focus and love from the specialists, combined with the advanced therapy techniques designed for optimal success, were crucial for Izzy's recovery. On her last day of chemotherapy, Izzy took eighteen steps, all on her own. Today, Izzy is a healthy, happy 5th grader, pursuing her dreams of becoming an actor. Without the specialized, consistent care provided by Children's Specialized Hospital, Izzy would not be where she is today. Children are always growing, so they need consistent care when recovering from an injury or learning how to live with a disability. While Children's Specialized Hospital is able to treat 35,000 patients annually, there are over 200,000 children in New Jersey in need of their services each year.
