VUE: Your roles oen portray characters who exude confidence and charisma. How much of your real-life personality do you bring to these roles, and how do you maintain authenticity while portraying such diverse characters? Terry: Every one of my characters is me. e phrase "we contain multitudes" is absolutely true. I believe all talent is learned and achievable as long as you have the desire to achieve it. All humanity is built from the same stuff, so I just find the humanity in every character I play. It's my job to discreetly reveal what that character is feeling to the audience, without giving any clues and being as honest as you can. When it's done correctly, I can actually get lost in the character and it is a truly magical place to be. VUE: You've had a remarkable journey from professional football player to actor and now to a multifaceted entertainer. What's been the most surprising aspect of this transition for you, and how has it influenced your approach to life and career? Terry: I spent a lot of my life hiding behind an image, then wondering why I could never connect with people. Once I learned to let all of that image stuff go and become truly vulnerable, I was able to connect—first with myself, and then with others. It has helped me become truly human instead of the image I could never measure up to. e best thing that happened to me by destroying the "image" was that I was finally able to connect with my wife, kids, friends, co-workers, and audiences in a way that was truly deep, honest, and authentic. It's a place I have been waiting my entire life to get to, and I am never going back. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT." VUENJ.COM 63
