VUE: Can you tell us about your artistic journey and what initially inspired you to pursue a career in art? GRANT: As a child, I had little artistic inclination and no formal art education. My spark for creativity ignited in my 20s when I began woodworking, craing my own furniture, and eventually building my own pool table— still one of my proudest achievements. Around the same time, I started a soware company. While I enjoyed creating the business and branding, I found myself growing bored, maybe even depressed, with the daily operations. At 30, I began experimenting with photography and decided to take a leap of faith into the creative world, hoping to find happiness as a 'starving artist.' To my surprise, within a year, I was shooting for companies like Sony and the UFC. I spent 15 years traveling the world, photographing fashion and fitness, but something still felt missing. e boredom returned until one day, while visiting a gallery in Palm Springs, I was completely "wowed" by a large painting. I don't even remember the artist's name, but I knew then and there that painting was what I wanted to do. So, I took another leap, studied the strokes of other artists, and taught myself how to paint. I'm still learning every day. VUENJ.COM 51
