VUE: Many of your paintings convey a
strong sense of emotion and storytelling.
How do you infuse your personal
experiences and emotions into your art,
and what do you hope viewers take away
from your work?
GRANT: As I mentioned earlier, my goal
is for viewers to look at a large painting,
sometimes up to 16 feet, and just say,
"Wow, that's beautiful." My work tends to
be a bit emotional and occasionally dark,
which is interesting because I'm not
really a dark person. I don't create art to
express a specific message, but sometimes
a narrative emerges as I paint. What I
truly love is hearing how viewers
interpret my workâeveryone brings
their own perspective, and they're always
right in their own way.
VUE: You've exhibited your work in
various galleries and venues. Can you
share some memorable moments or
experiences from your exhibitions?
GRANT: As an artist, I spend a lot of
time alone, so gallery exhibitions provide
the human connection that online likes
or comments can't replicate. I love
watching viewers' eyes trace the subjects
of my paintings, noticing which strokes
they linger on. ese events can be a bit
of a social whirlwind, but I genuinely
enjoy every moment of them.
