In March 2025, the West Village duplex at 150 Charles Street achieved a historic milestone by selling for $60 million, setting a new record as the most expensive apartment ever sold in downtown Manhattan. The duplex features 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a spacious outdoor terrace with Hudson River views, and a sculptural spiral staircase that serves as the home's centerpiece. A V I S I O N R E I M A G I N E D When the Padia family first moved into this home, they enjoyed the prime location and open layout but soon found areas ripe for improvement. eir desire for a more harmonious flow and bespoke aesthetic led them to TTC, an architectural and interior design firm celebrated for their ability to turn functional spaces into works of art. What began as a mission to refine the apartment's entry sequence evolved into a full-scale renovation, elevating the entire space into an architectural marvel. e project's centerpiece—the staircase— became the ultimate statement. Originally, a straight-run wooden and glass stair divided the space inefficiently, restricting the entry hall while leaving an expansive, yet underutilized, landing above. TTC's team, led by architect Alex Nizhikhovskiy, envisioned a dynamic, organic solution: a sculptural curved stair encased in a stunning plaster shell. e staircase gracefully sweeps through the double- height space, its curvature creating a fluid connection between floors while framing breathtaking views of Lower Manhattan. In the heart of New York's West Village, just steps from the Hudson River, a striking 5,840-square-foot duplex apartment has undergone a masterful transformation. Under the visionary guidance of The Turett Collaborative (TTC) and Purvi Padia Design, this residence has been reimagined into a sanctuary of modern elegance, artistic craftsmanship, and functional luxury.
