VUE: What inspired you to create your debut collection
of luxury women's hats?
GHINZELLI: Fashion has always been an intrinsic part
of who I am. As a child I used to make dresses for my
dolls out of the discarded materials from my mother's
quilting. I suppose it was just part of growing up that I
thought I had to make a living and eventually took on
corporate work. But no matter what, I could never
quite let go of this part of me that needed to create. So
I took time off and went to Europe to apprentice for a
couple of world-renowned milliners who truly opened
my eyes to the possibilities of what I can accomplish. I
did return to working behind the desk when I came
home but slowly but surely I started to build my
collection one piece at a time.
