IT'S A
CELEBRATION
WITH
When it comes to Le Kool champagne, Robert "Kool" Bell wants you to remember:
"It's the star; I'm backing the star." at's high praise-coming from the leader and
co-founder of Kool & e Gang, who boasts seven American Music Awards and a
recently earned placed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Still on tour and keeping
"very busy all around," Mr. Bell took some time out of his jam-packed schedule
to talk all things Le Kool.
e initial idea arose 10 years ago, when Kool was performing 20 sold out shows
in France. His promoter asked if he wanted to sell champagne on tour. "I didn't
think that's what my fans would want; they want t-shirts, hats," he explained.
But aer declining the opportunity, he realized, "I want to get it on the shelves.
I got together the idea." Aer all, creating a festive drink seemed like a no-
brainer for the creator of the song, "Celebrate." As Kool detailed, "It's New Years
Eve, everybody's drinking Dom Perignon, but what's the song playing in the
background? 'Celebrate'!"
