Q: Your brand emphasizes that
no two hats are ever the same.
How do you maintain that
uniqueness, even when craing
made-to-order pieces?
A: When a client falls in love with
a particular style, I may cra a
second piece inspired by it, some
designs are simply too special not
to revisit two or three times.
However, the natural materials I
cherish, like parasisal straw or
feathersor leather, ensure each
hat remains one-of-a-kind. e
fibers of these materials oen
take dye differently, resulting in
subtle variations in color that
make each piece distinct.
Similarly, no two feathers share
the exact same pattern, adding a
unique flourish to every hat. Even
when I've recreated a style at a
client's request, these organic
nuances, combined with my
handcraed process, guarantee
that each hat carries its own story
and uniqueness, reflecting the
individuality of both the wearer
and the materials.
Q: What was the first hat you ever
made, and what do you remember
about that experience?
A: My first hat was craed in
the South of France, under the
guidance of my teacher, Tracy,
who introduced me to the
intricacies of the free-form
process. I remember it so
vividly, it was such a joyful
experience, filled with the
t h r i l l of discover y. Trac y
showed me how to let the
materials guide the design,
teaching me to embrace every
cur ve and contour. Though
every beginning takes its time,
and I certainly felt those early
challenges, the process was pure
fun. e room we worked in
was bright and beautiful, with
sunlight streaming in, making it
easy to see every little detail as I
shaped my first piece. I was
happy to finally return to my
cras, which I had to leave
behind for many years aer
moving to the USA.
