What started as the road trip of a lifetime
turned into their life's work, something
Daniel van Oort and Peter Zeisser could
have never anticipated. When Daniel and
Peter, friends since high school, decided
to purchase an old Land Rover Defender,
restore it, and drive it from the North
Cape in Norway all the way down to
Cape Town, South Africa, creating a
company that brings dream Defenders to
life was not on their minds. But aer
restoring their first vehicle and finding
interested buyers who loved what
they had done–and wanted one for
themselves–Daniel and Peter decided
to convert their travel dreams into a
rapidly growing enterprise, one that
now spans the globe and reaches
interested customers around the world.
In 2018, Peter and Daniel were joined by
Frank Tijs, who brought his engineering
skills into play and helped e Landrovers
create "the first ever and only High
Performance Electric Defender in the
world." Now, 15 years aer the roots of the
company took hold, Peter, Daniel, and
Frank are joined by over 70 colleagues
who fill the roles of technicians, engineers,
painters, upholstery men and women,
HR, website, social media, and marketing
teams, to name a few. While the company
has greatly expanded since its inception,
what remains is the highly personal
experience that each new owner enjoys
along the way as their bespoke vehicle is
created. e personalized process takes
around a year as e Landrovers team
takes each buyer on a journey of designing
their own Defender to their heart's desire.
