Certain motifs return again and again: butterflies,
hummingbirds, and stars, oen surrounded by
constellations. e Seven Sisters, on display and for
sale at Fivestory, was inspired by the Pleiades in
Taurus. Seeing my work in curated spaces throughout
the Hamptons and beyond is deeply meaningful; aer
creating more than 800 pieces, the greatest reward is
when a collector truly connects with a painting and
chooses to live with it.
My background in interior design helps me balance
what's personal with what lives beautifully in a space—
especially in commissions. For me, art succeeds when
it leaves a lasting emotion; I'm not aiming for "pretty,"
but for work that moves people and brings the outside
in—grounding, comforting, and healing. When I'm in
the Hamptons, that energy is everywhere: songbirds,
dappled morning light, the ocean's rhythm, long beach
walks, and nights under the stars.
Growing up in a family of artists made creativity my
everyday life. My father was a respected trial attorney
who also wrote poetry and rock operas. My mother, a
Parsons graduate and fashion designer, earned a full
scholarship to study in Paris, but chose to "design a
family of her own." My grandmother was an artist
too—and creativity runs through my entire family.
My siblings are also artists, and many of my cousins
on my mother's side share that same gi, rooted in our
Danish ancestry. Time with my grandmother was
always hands-on—cards, grapevine wreaths, fishing,
and picking apples in her orchard.
