Perched above the Long Island Sound in Setauket, a
newly completed modern estate redefines what it
means to live luxuriously on the East End—where
architecture, nature, and family life exist in seamless
harmony. When the homeowners acquired the
property, they enlisted longtime collaborator Rose
Praino of YDC Design to transform the 17,500-square-
foot new build into a refined yet deeply livable
sanctuary—one that honors modern architecture
while embracing warmth, privacy, and connection.
Years earlier, the family had attended an event at the
home, drawn to its unobstructed water views, lush
surroundings, and rare sense of seclusion. When the
property reemerged on the market, it felt destined.
With deep roots in the area and a desire to remain
close to schools, friends, and work, the location was
as meaningful as the vision itself. Aer a four-year
collaboration between YDC Design, architect John
Himmelsbach, landscape designer Alexandra Leighton,
and Ironwood Construction, the result is a masterclass
in thoughtful luxury.
