My background in interior design helps me balance what's personal with what lives beautifully in a space— especially in commissions. For me, art succeeds when it leaves a lasting emotion; I'm not aiming for "pretty," but for work that moves people and brings the outside in—grounding, comforting, and healing. When I'm along the coast, that energy is everywhere: songbirds, dappled morning light, the ocean's rhythm, long beach walks, and nights under the stars. Growing up in a family of artists made creativity my everyday life. My father was a respected trial attorney who also wrote poetry and rock operas. My mother, a Parsons graduate and fashion designer, earned a full scholarship to study in Paris, but chose to "design a family of her own." My grandmother was an artist too—and creativity runs through my entire family. My siblings are also artists, and many of my cousins on my mother's side share that same gi, rooted in our Danish ancestry. Time with my grandmother was always hands-on—cards, grapevine wreaths, fishing, and picking apples in her orchard. Next, I'm expanding my Paint & Sip offerings with a new focus on the human form and opening a small storefront featuring new products, including silk and rattan handbags. My floral-inspired suroards are being placed in luxury hotels as I expand nationally—especially to the West Coast. VUE ON | HOME & DESIGN 92 VUENJ.COM
