Carly LaManna was a "lover of hats" long before
opening her custom hat atelier, e Millinery. "My
mother always had me in these outfits with
matching hats, and I continued to wear them as an
adult," she explains. While her affinity for high-
fashion headpieces never dissipated, Carly funneled
her creative passions into hair design, spending 16
years behind the chair as a cosmetologist and
licensed color specialist. Citing her background in
hair design and "working with color–whether on
hair, complexion, or eyes-" as all being instrumental
in her journey to hatmaker, Carly worked under
experienced milliners in Williamsburg and Los
Angeles, learning the trade firsthand. "I took what
I liked from each of them," she states, "started my
business, and am learning every day."
