When comparing her work with Maure to her former life as a chef, she contemplates, "in cooking, it was instant gratification on a daily basis. With this, there are levels to it." For Maureen, seeing others love and appreciate her designs, "their curation and what they do with the products; I love hearing how our pieces become a part of people's homes," she shares. While her culinary career was backed by education and years of experience, "no one gave me an instruction manual and I didn't study business," she says of her rapidly growing company. "e fact that we grew much faster than we were prepared for was a big challenge, because I didn't have a mentor telling me the steps to take," states Maureen. However, it was Maureen's belief in herself that helped navigate these bumps in the road. "I trusted my instincts and my creative point of view while recognizing there would always be more to learn. Building the company has taught me to stay adaptable, remain curious, and approach challenges with perspective rather than taking them personally." When it comes to sources of inspiration, Maureen is quick to share her deep affinity for the outdoors. "I'm endlessly inspired by the natural world," she explains. "e colors, textures, and patterns always find their way into my work, like our Birchwood Trays." In addition to nature, "travel has also shaped my aesthetic in profound ways," she says. "e Mediterranean, European villages, and local markets have influenced the way I think about color, materials, architecture, and gathering around a table." Pointing to one of Maure's taglines, "coveted curiosities," she notes, "I live by that." I love hearing how our pieces become a part of people's homes."
