Summer and sand simply go hand in hand. When the
season calls, we migrate to dream destinations for some
R&R as if ocean water can melt our problems away. But
we don't have to travel the world for an oceanfront
getaway.
Luckily, such a place is only a matter of miles away
at Montauk's Residences at Gurney's under the new
management of Michael Nenner, an accomplished Four
Seasons veteran with more than 15 years of luxury
resort experience. In honor of their 90th Anniversary in
the Hamptons, Gurney's is launching the third phase of
their multi-year renovation for this summer season. This
includes the debut of 42 new resort guest rooms and
planned spa renovations along the most pristine stretch
of the Montauk oceanfront.
The room's new look, designed by Michael Kramer of
Michael Thomas & Co, is crafted with respect to the
resorts history with modern twists on vintage decor.
Reclaimed weather-beaten cedar siding has been
included as well as new cathedral ceilings to match the
integrity of reclaimed oak hardwood floors. Custom
drapery was designed to mimic the ocean's changing
tides and welcome the morning sun. The custom
furniture, sculpted from a combination of solid oak,
walnut and ash give the room an eclectic vibe to house
resort items preserved from several generations.
