The vessel utilizes a series of hydraulic rams in order to shapeshift between modes. In its normal "drivingmode," the catamaran- style boat uses both hull engines with two jet drives, giving off a sort of "cabriolet supercar" sensation with the combined agility and stability of a catamaran. For enhanced performance, there is an option to replace the primary hull engines with two more powerful engines. When fully upgraded, the Kormaran's engines produce a combined 900 hp. At lower speeds, however, the K7 operates more efficiently in trimaran mode; allowing for a more elegant and smooth gliding ride with notably high stability. Maneuverability is even more enhanced when docking, allowing the boat to turn on a dime and even move sideways. What truly makes the K7 a unique experience, though, is the takeoff felt when in "flightmode." Utilizing the optional hydrofoil system with a third central engine, the boat quite literally flies at roughly three feet above the water, providing a very jet- like feeling by reducing water resistance up to 80 percent. The smooth ride, separated from the daunting effects of harsh oceanic waves, turns more smoothly and ensures that an afternoon on the water isn't filled with slamming and spraying in every direction. When deciding on the color of the interior, Kormaran offers a 600 shade range of options and promises to produce a personal color should your preference not be found among their choices. It is also possible to change the leather at a moment's notice, should the need arise to clean a dirty interior, impress a guest of honor, or match your wife's dress when heading to dinner in Venice. The boat may also be outfitted with sun sails that beautifully cover the cockpit, sundeck, or both. All in all, the Kormaran K7 is a truly inexplicable piece of ship-building. Whether one sees a Transformer, a spaceship, or something straight out of a James Bond film, it's hard to deny that there hasn't yet been anything quite like the K7 before. It is fair to say that Dr. Kormann has designed a revolutionary craft that is in a class all its own. T R I M A R A N M O D E F L Y I N G M O D E V U E N J . C O M 126 VUE ON TECH
