as a dark and womanly suit of armor; you can easily imagine such an outfit adorning the Mother of Dragons. This fusion of science, geometry and fashion is the sweet spot for the collective, and in particular Asfour, who has degrees in mechanical engineering and architecture from the University of Maryland. ThreeASFOUR's most recent collection is named Quantum Vibrations. The line was inspired by the vibrations that make up the universe and allow us to experience sensations like color and sound. "We work with elements that exist in all nations and all traditions. It's about being conscious to the fact that we are all connected," Gil said. The centerpiece of the collection is another dress hot off the 3D printing presses—the Oscillation. This dress is made of 30 printed parts containing a variety of different materials and colors. The design uses a series of 2D patterns that resemble vibration forms that occur naturally in the universe. "We want to promote an awareness of the physical body. You are not separated from nature, you are not separated from other beings, you are part of a symbiotic relationship with everything that exists around you," Asfour said. Three months ago, Asfour, Donhauser and Gil packed up their Chinatown studio and immigrated once more—this time to the Mana Contemporary cultural center in Jersey City. After premiering their short film, Tree of Life, exclusively at Mana in 2016, threeASFOUR began talks with the center regarding the possibility of partnering to create a technology and fashion studio. "The goal would be to develop a kind of center where the customer can come in and be custom tailored through technology; there would be 3D body scanning, fabric development, pattern making and sizing. In a way it would be like a futuristic tailor," Asfour said. The members of threeASFOUR are always looking to the future. Whether they're leading the charge towards fashion technology, envisioning a more harmonious, connected world or ruminating on concepts of quantum mechanics, they remain at the forefront of thought and design.
