Whether it was finding the biggest coaster or simply a steep driveway to pull my cousin around on a Roller Racer, I always had the need for speed. Nothing scared me, not even jumping out of an airplane or riding a double black diamond trail. Yet for some reason, the thought of being submerged in deep waters (with the exception of my swimming pool) scares the living crap out of me—and I've never understood why. Despite my fear, I've always had such admiration for the seas and what lies beneath them, which is why it's so fitting that freediver Julia Wheeler earns her place on the cover of this issue of VUE. From swimming with humpback whales to exploring shipwrecks all on a single breath, Julia is someone who truly lives life on the edge. Her story, and the sport of freediving itself, remind us of the incredible things humans are capable of achieving if we put our minds to the test. She also sheds light on the pollution issues that plague our beautiful oceans, a message I feel we all have a duty to understand and uphold. With summer finally here, it's time to get out and play! New Jersey truly comes to life this time of year with Atlantic City on the rise once again, unexplored boating destinations ready for docking, and some of the most amazing golf clubs on the East Coast open for the season. In this issue of VUE, we're bringing you all of it, no matter what your weekend plans may entail. I invite you to be a part of the VUE life, as we've curated yet another issue of first-perspective content to fill your long, summer days. So grab that seasonally- inspired cocktail and let our recommendations do the rest. Cheers to summer! V U E N J . C O M 30
