Since the frames of the StanCraft's are primarily made out of wood, keeping them out of the sun is the key to longevity. If left out in the sun all summer, the sheen will eventually fade so the best way to care for the exterior is using one of the brand's custom canvas covers. If the boat is routinely covered, it can go through three or four seasons without needing to be revarnished and shined. The process of revarnishing is relatively simple and involves sanding down the old varnish and re-applying three to four layers of new varnish onto the wood and shining it again. This kind of maintenance is also semi-optional because owners can choose to keep their boat uncovered for a season and simply have it varnished every season rather than every four seasons. Like any boat, there is always some maintenance that needs to be performed in order to get it ready for a new season and to make sure it lasts for decades. During StanCraft's second generation, the family-focused on boat restoration. Today, the company continues to restore boats and have thought of a new way to help customers slowly transition into their own custom boats. The idea is to create a stock of restored StanCraft boats that customers can then purchase for a season or two. During this time, customers can enjoy the outdoors while also designing what will eventually be their own custom boat. Another route is customers can use the restored boat for the season while they consider if they want to jump into creating their own custom. This allows them time to deliberate and enjoy a StanCraft boat while also helping them figure out the features and designs that best suit their lifestyle. StanCrafts are one of the only boat brands in the industry whose products appreciate in value over time. This means customers can buy a restored boat and almost the entire cost of that boat can go into a new custom boat at resale or owners can sell their boat at any time for more than the initial purchase price.
