I 've always been fascinated with customs and traditions, looking for the "why" in observing actions. I was born on the 4th of July and always wondered why we shoot fireworks in the sky on this day. Fun fact - it was originally supposed to be July 2nd. For the last few months in preparation for our wedding issue, I became immersed in the traditions of marriage. For instance, why do we have the universal tradition of the wedding ring? One tradition explained: The roundness of the ring represents eternity. Wearing one symbolizes a union that is supposed to last forever. It was once believed that a vein ran directly from the ring finger of the left hand to the heart. Hence, the reason why we wear the ring on our left hand. May marks the beginning of what is considered to be "wedding season." Last year certainly caused interruptions to our "traditional wedding season" with all of the restrictions in place. However, it seems this year is certainly shaping up to be a year of celebration. There's a good chance that your refrigerator (like mine) is getting full with save-the-date magnets. Being that timing is everything, and with the Garden State in full bloom, we felt it couldn't be a more perfect time for our annual VUE Bride issue. Whether you are designing your upcoming wedding or planning to attend one this year, we've got you covered in every aspect. We're showcasing the world's top wedding dress designers such as Berta, Ines Di Santo and Monique Lhuillier for the bride-to-be. For the men, we've compiled our looks for the ultimate "Dapper Groom." Our team has canvassed the globe to find the most over-the-top wedding venues. Looking for something closer? We've got that covered too as we share our top venues here in NJ to tie the knot - some of which may surprise you! We also know the challenge of finding the ultimate wedding gift, so we are excited to present to you our first-ever "Luxury Wedding Registry." Any of these can also serve as the perfect housewarming gift as well, as it seems more and more of our friends and family are moving into new homes. As a result of last year's pandemic, the landscape of the 2021 wedding season will look different than any year we have ever seen. However, evolution and change can be beautiful. This is the foundation for this year's Bridal Issue, marrying the ancient tradition of weddings with our "new normal." We couldn't be more pleased with how the finished product came together and we hope you enjoy reading it! Brian Kovener Co-Founder Brian@vuenj.com A Note From the Co-Founder V U E N J .C O M 28
