floating installation that starts
on the far left as a dense, heavy,
gridlike structure with plenty of
spaces to individually insert
wine bottles, but then moving
right the installation begins to
hollow and float until all that is
left is a few select bottles. The
entire structure defies space and
gravity, battles between
tradition and modernity, and
ultimately shows that there's
just as much beauty in the
larger expanse as there is in the
minute details.
Perhaps the most functional of the
artist collaborations is the Yann Pocreau
Solar Folds cellar. Tucked in the back of
a gallery behind walls that are surrounded
by large gold, minimal trianglist doors
that resemble the shapes displayed on
the adjacent canvases, is a grid of perfectly
placed wine bottles. The grids, are visually
appealing with color blocking shades of
wood and a soft suede-like look but they are
highly functional for storage with varying
depths, directions, and organizational
styles including a horizontal unit that
shows off the labels of each bottle for
the discerning visitor.
