A day spent enjoying the water, shopping,
and luxuries of the Amalfi Coast is

archeological site of Pompeii, an ancient town
that was destroyed in 79 CE by the eruption
of Mount Vesuvius. e town was buried in
volcanic debris, leaving behind fragments
of buildings and homes. Astonishingly, the
debris perfectly preserved the remains, leaving
molds that are displayed today. e town
of Pompeii is frozen in time and extremely
interesting to walk around and discover the
way life was for people living at that time.
Not too far from Pompeii is Mount Vesuvius,
the volcano that destroyed Pompeii, which is
currently inactive. Visitors are able to hike to
the top and see the view and vastness of the
actual volcano.
