VUE: Why did you choose Sinamay and Parasisal
straw for some of your lighter hats? How do you
envision them being worn?
GHINZELLI: ese are natural materials from
palm or banana trees and by their very composition
durable enough to really last and malleable enough
to shape properly. ey are employed by the finest
milliners for those purposes. I myself enjoy working
with them as they provide the kind of flexibility I
seek in being able to create different shapes that will
essentially hold their forms. And because these are
breathable materials they make an excellent base
for hats that are perfect for outdoor activities like
attending garden parties, polo or other equestrian
events, even destination weddings!
VUE: What does "flawless elegance" mean to you,
and how do you infuse it into your designs?
GHINZELLI: I try to make my hats as flexible in
function as possible – meaning, I want them to be
equally appropriate at work or for everyday
activities. But at the end of the day they are truly
meant to add a touch of glamor to whatever you
are wearing. So it's important to me that I render
them in colors, shapes and with details that
embody elegance that enhance your look to make
it truly flawless.
VUE: You mentioned wanting women to "bear
their own crowns of confidence and strength." How
do you hope your collection empowers them?
GHINZELLI: One of the things that great fashion
provides are the ways of discovering or unlocking
your own inner strength. When you look good,
you feel good. When you feel good, you will
embody confidence. And this becomes even more
important on those days when we're not feeling all
that sure, or if we have to face challenging
situations. I hope that my collection gives women
that extra boost of support that will remind them
that they can deal with anything the world throws
their way.
