Now, four years later, Carly designs and crafts each piece from scratch, working out of her artisan hat studio in Monmouth County. Her design ideas come from a variety of sources, from antique art pieces to Victorian bridal styles, and the design process for custom orders creates a one-on-one connection with her clients. "e whole idea of a custom order is so special because everything is so mass-produced, quick fashion, that everyone is looking for that experience that they feel taken care of," Carly explains. Clients are scheduled by appointment, where Carly invites them into her Keansburg-area studio and walks them through the consultation and fitting process. "I size them, take measurements, go over color, style, what it's for, brim width, crown height, etc.," she describes. With the typical consultation taking about an hour, Carly covers the type of style, banding, texture, fabrics, accessory details, and more in order to bring her client's vision to life.
