bedridden with flu-like symptoms last year are still having trouble breathing, tasting, and smelling months later. Despite testing negative, they have not been able to fully recover. If a large portion of the community develops immunity to COVID-19 via vaccination, we can significantly reduce the spread and minimize suffering. REMAIN VIGILANT AFTER VACCINATION Even if you have received the vaccine, it's still important to wear a mask. Typically, it takes a few weeks aer vaccination for the body to build immunity. is means it is possible for you to become infected with COVID-19 before or aer vaccination. And it may be possible for those vaccinated to still transmit the virus to others. While the vaccine is still in limited supply, Englewood Health is working on rolling out an extensive plan to make it available to patients, when state and national guidance and allocation allows for widespread public distribution. Patients are also encouraged to check englewoodhealth.org/vaccine for updates. PEACE OF MIND One day the pandemic will end, but we still have to grapple with the mental stress we've all faced as a result. In addition to inpatient care for severe psychiatric issues, Englewood Health offers outpatient care for behavioral health and mental health through e Gregory P. Shadek Behavioral Care Center. e team offers treatment for conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and substance abuse disorders. With a focus on outreach and preventative initiatives, the team also partners with organizations that specialize in raising awareness and hosting educational community events centered around important issues such as addiction and youth anxiety. Additionally, the Graf Center for Integrative Medicine at Englewood Health, offers safe, evidence- based services, including acupuncture, therapeutic massage, wellness coaching, nutritional counseling, yoga, Reiki, and stress management. ese therapies have been shown to help relieve stress and anxiety, and are available to all members of the community in addition to patients of the hospital. KEEPING THE COMMUNITY SAFE AND HEALTHY Noting the importance of early intervention and increasing access to diagnosis and treatment for high risk communities, Englewood Health will open new locations in Bergen and Hudson County that will offer hospital services such as imaging, laboratory and other diagnostic evaluations in some of the most populous parts of the state—Fair Lawn and Jersey City. e Fair Lawn location will offer state-of-the-art imaging, including MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, X-Ray and mammography. e Jersey City location, located at 2 Journal Square, will offer medical offices for orthopedics, pain medicine, primary care, diabetes, OB/GYN, cancer, cardiology, urology, and colorectal surgery services, as well as onsite urgent care, breast screening and imaging, laboratory, and an infusion center. Having the imaging, laboratory, and infusion services within the same building will provide patients with faster more efficient diagnosis and treatment. "For over 130 years, Englewood Health has provided personalized, compassionate care to the residents of Northern New Jersey and beyond," said Dr. Brunnquell. "While our reach has included Jersey City and the people who live and work there, the addition of this new location at Journal Square will be a game changer for the community. With increased access to medical expertise, services, and screenings, people will be able to get the care they need, when they want it, right in their neighborhood." With its latest plans, the team at Englewood Health aims to provide the same level of service and dedication offered on its main campus and the surrounding area to communities lacking easy access to health care. "Our team at Englewood Health has done an extraordinary job throughout the pandemic this past year. And we have learned a great deal," says Geller. "Not only have we gained better knowledge about prevention and treatment, but the experience has also reminded us of the importance of being agile as an organization, working together, and supporting one another."
